A few words about the Villages.
Malaxa is a small village on an elevated plateau on the feet of the White Mountains of Crete. It is located south of the village (and the harbor) of Souda, at a distance of 8 km from Chania city. Malaxa consists of a number of scattered houses, some of which have been masterfully renovated, and some villas that were built during recent years. What makes Malaxa stand out is its magnificent view over Souda bay. The village is also known for its traditional taverns with Cretan dishes.
Aptera is a very unique village, situated on an elevated location on the south part of Souda Bay, overlooking the whole bay and the Apokoronas plains. It is obvious that this strategic location is linked with a very rich history. First of all, the name “Aptera”, meaning “without wings” in ancient Greek, has an interesting story behind it. On this spot, in ancient times, there used to be a center for the musical arts with a big temple dedicated to the Muses.
According to ancient Greek mythology, the Sirens challenged the Muses to a music competition in the temple, but in the end the Sirens lost, and they were so sad, that their feathers fell off into Souda Bay, leaving them wingless, or “aptera”.

On our trip to Chania, at the beginning of November (2025), my friend and I were most fortunate to be referred to Tour Point and Apostolis for an e-bike tour into the mountains. Our adventure with Tour Point was completely magical and the highlight of our trip to Crete. As we pedaled along in stunning landscape, Apostolis (our attentive guide and truly lovely person) shared his vast knowledge of the history of the area and his own observations about life on Crete, which was all very interesting and appreciated. Herds of goats wandered on and off the road (Apostolis was very patient as I stopped to film them) and eagles swooped overhead. We topped the day off with a delicious break in a village taverna and sampling yummy honey from a local beekeeper family. (Apostolis kindly carried some of what we purchased back down for us). The e-bikes were top notch too, in excellent condition (maintained by Apostolis), and definitely a step up from the e-bikes we have rented previously. Truly a very fun, beautiful, and memorable day! Totally highly recommend Tour Point and Apostolis for a tour in Crete!
I was able to get a lot in during my trip to Athens and Crete, but this tour was probably my favorite experience over all. The Cretans are easily some of the kindest, friendliest people on earth and our guide Apo was no acceptation. He provided transportation for us, and He was happy to wait a few minutes while we had a coffee before beginning the ride. By the end of the tour Apo felt like a good friend. The ride itself was breath taking. Not physically, the E-Bikes make that aspect a breeze. But seeing the natural beautify of the Crete country was something else. We stopped to sample organic honey, and have lunch in a small town up in the White Mountains. All included in the tour. Which was priced very reasonably I must add. I hope to get back to Crete some day, and when I do. I would love to do this again!

Truly a highlight of our trip to Crete! If you do nothing else, book an e-bike tour with Tour Point. Our trip with Apostolis to the small town of Therisso gave us everything we had hoped for in an opportunity to experience authentic Crete. E-bikes afforded an easy way to ride to the very top of the gorge for amazing views of Chania. Just challenging enough and so enjoyable! You’ll see farms, avocado and olive groves, and friendly goats along the way, not to mention the beautiful Cretan countryside, with a friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable guide, enjoy coffee and a snack at a Cretan cafe, meet some locals and some other tourists, and try some of the best local honey you’ll find (be sure to bring some home!). Be ready for a long, thrilling, downhill ride at the end. Convenient, too — we were picked up right outside of our Airbnb. It was a perfect way to start the day! Don’t miss it!!
Wir haben eBikes gemietet. Bei der Übergabe hat er uns Touren vorgeschlagen und gleich eine Tour mit Sehenswürdigkeiten inkl. Einkehrmöglichkeiten auf Google Maps zusammengestellt und uns zugestellt. Er hat sich Tagsüber mehrmals bei uns erkundigt ob alles in Ordnung ist. Die eBikes sind in einem guten Zustand und die Ladekabel werden auch abgegeben. Zudem wurden Helme und Fahrradschlösser abgegeben. Wir können das Geschäft durchaus weiter empfehlen????????

Wir habe. Zwei E-Bikes für eine Woche gemietet. Die Bikes waren von Cupe und wurden direkt in shoreline geliefert, inkl. Helm, Korb und Verlängerung zum Laden. Bei der Übergabe wurden noch viele gute Tips für die Touren gegeben. Auch mit dem Hotel wurde ein Platz für die Fahrräder geklärt. Ei super freundlicher Service, gute Räder, wir können es nur empfehlen
